Questions:
How was your first day? what did you do first...second...third etc.?
my first day at the MTC was kinda crazy. they have an assembly line where you go and check in, you get your name tag, your picture taken for an id card and you go to your residency to drop off your stuff, then you go to your study room and you take a gym use test and i find out who my companion is. Then it was a bunch meetings and getting to know everyone. it all felt like a blur cuz there were SO many new things and it all went by SUPER fast haha. The first couple of days are kind of a blur because we are doing the same thing and we are in the same room ALL day studying and getting use to life in the MTC. But it was really hard to sit and study all day. That was something that i was diffinately not used to. Oh and going bed at 10.30 is pretty tough too.
Have you seen anyone you know already?
Yes. i saw 2 guys that did ballroom at UVU. One of which i T.A the gold latin class he was taking (he is going to australia) and the other was part of the gold team (he is going to brazil). oh and just the other day i saw and talked to Christain a little bit. he was being a host for the new missionaries coming in.
Who is your companion and where is he from?
my companion is Elder Arteaga and his family is from Guatemala but he lives in Kentucky. He will be serving in the Cusco, Peru Mission
Are you immersed in your spanish already?
Yes the very first day here everything was in spanish. We read, speak, watch and write everything in spanish. But its good cuz i am feeling a lot more confident being able to talk to someone about the gospel.
When will your pday's be?
My p.days will be Thursdays.
Do you have a favorite food yet there? Or is it all yucky? (christian and jens both warn you...don't eat the corn dogs... hehe)
Umm i havent had a favorite food yet BUT the good news is, is that i havent gotten the runs and my stomach has been able to handle the food hahahahaha. Just thought i would brag a little. I hope i didnt jinx it.

New Address (well, just a new leave date)
I'll tell you a secret that I learned when Jensen went into the MTC. The UPS guy told me that the 4 little numbers at the end of PER-CHI 0207 are when they leave the MTC to go into the field. So Jose's original date to leave was February 7 (0207) and now it's the end of THIS month (1228...December 28)
...hmmmm I wonder why?
Is it because he ALREADY KNEW spanish and doesn't need those two extra months?
Probably.
Get him to the field.
(thanks Becky!)

How to send Elder Jose' a package!
Best
"The BYU" has a mail service that delivers every day to the MTC for only $1. Need to be there by 3 p.m. Go to the Wilk and park in the little round circly thing and go in the sports/rental door (more south than the main doors), and the mail service is right there.
Better
In addition to the above, DearElder.com is also great, you can type up letters and they'll get them the same day if sent before noon, or they'll get them the next day if sent after. And it's free! Yay! Also they have "pouch mail" too when he's actually in Peru...And that's also free!
Good
UPS (here in Provo) sends letters for free and packages for a discounted rate of 3$ (up to 5lbs) to the MTC. You need to have it there by 2 p.m. I went to the one on Bulldog Ave. next to McDonalds. The MTC does not allow hand/personal deliveries.
